A 800-lb ram of a pile driver falls h = 3 yards from rest and strikes a 600-lb pile partially embedded in the ground. It was observed that the ram had no perceptible rebound after striking the pile. If the pile drives d = 1 yard into the ground, and it was observed that it took 2 seconds for the system to come to rest, determine the average resistive force of the ground on the pile.
